What’s Involved In a Life that Flourishes or T.H.R.I.V.E.s? 

 Human flourishing or well-being can be described as “the place in which all aspects of a person’s life are good.”

 To thrive means to “grow or develop in a healthy, vigorous way; to flourish; to live a satisfying, meaningful life.” We can label the six domains of human flourishing with the T.H.R.I.V.E. acronym.

 

Harvard’s Human Flourishing Program has developed an assessment to measure flourishing, or how well humans are thriving across these six dimensions. T.H.R.I.V.E. Solutions is using this twelve-question survey with Harvard’s permission. (The survey is also used in Baylor University’s Global Flourishing Study. Why is it Important That Our Pastors, People, and Communities T.H.R.I.V.E.?

Human flourishing is a new, fresh apologetic for the faith!

A life that T.H.R.I.V.E.s can serve as a powerful testimony. It can show that we “have been with Jesus” (Acts 4:31).

Whole-life, Spirit-empowered discipleship broadens the focus of John 10:10, moving beyond just focusing on faith to include the other dimensions of abundant life noted above.

“The thief comes only to steal and destroy; I come so that they would have life and have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

Only 30% of U.S. churches engaged in community-facing ministries. It is past time to rethink evangelism, church planting, and church revitalization. We must seek the flourishing of our communities!

“Seek the flourishing of the city where I have sent you…for in its prosperity will be your prosperity” (Jeremiah 29:7).

What Does T.H.R.I.V.E. Solutions Have to Offer?

T.H.R.I.V.E. Solutions is serving denominations, churches, families, businesses, and schools with training and resources that can be accessed by your people! These offerings are available through a mix of digital resources and LMS platforms. The T.H.R.I.V.E. Solutions materials are regularly expanded and currently offer 15 or more whole-life discipleship courses, plus over 150 well-being/THRIVE practices, via digital content that is reproducible for personal or group study. Each resource is designed for reaching others in schools, neighborhoods, and the marketplace.

This T.H.R.I.V.E. Solutions platform includes:

  • Preaching and teaching outlines on Whole-life abundance.
  • H.R.I.V.E. Mentoring Tools to deepen each participant’s personal growth and discipleship at home, at work, and in the community.
  • A digital library of growth guides for Bible study, small groups, team meetings, or staff trainings.
  • Supportive, multi-session “community” courses focused on topics such as Keeping Marriages Healthy and Hope-filled Living.
  • Supportive digital assessments for insight, self-awareness, and feedback.
